Prescription Drugs

- The government drug insurance plan (RAMQ) provides some coverage for prescription drugs listed on the List of Medications. There is a deductible of $16.25. Once paid, there is an additional charge of 32% for co-insurance based on age and income. 

Dental Care

- Coverage for some types of oral surgeries when performed in a hospital.
- Routine visits to the dentist are covered for children age 10 and under.

Vision Care

- Individuals under 18 and 65+ receive 100% coverage for optometrist examinations.
- Individuals receiving social assistance are provided with full coverage for optometrist examinations.
- Individuals who are visually handicapped receive full coverage for optometrist examinations.
Individuals aged 18 to 64 who are hospitalized and will require long term care receive coverage.

Hospital Care

- There is full coverage for basic ward accommodations.
- There is partial coverage for some outpatient services.

Health Specialists

- Physiotherapy is covered only if services are performed in a hospital or private clinic.
- No other coverage available.

Homecare and Nursing

- Coverage for home rehabilitation is available only to individuals over 65.

Ambulatory Services

- Individuals over 65 receive 100% coverage as well as those on social assistance.

Hearing Aids

- For individuals with hearing loss of specified 
level, those under 18, and those on social 
assistance
, full coverage is available for 
purchase, replacement, adjustment, or repair of 
one hearing aid per person, every 6 years.

Medical Equipment and Supplies

- Prosthetics are partially covered by the RAMQ if eligible.
