Many individuals wonder whether they really need to pay their dentist a visit every 6 months. There are quite a few factors that can help determine whether or not you should go twice a year.

You can ask yourself the following questions that will help you and your dentist create your scheduled visits:
– Do you floss and brush after meals?
– Do you eat well and consume sweets in moderation?
– Do you smoke?
– Do you or your related family members have a history of gum disease or illness?
– Do you have any other medical factors that may affect your dental health? (you are receiving cancer treatments or have diabetes for example)

And in case you didn’t know, it’s recommended by the Canadian Dental Association that an infant see a dentist within 6 months of the appearance of the first tooth.
