Almost 10 years ago, first ministers of the Canadian government recognized that efforts needed to be made in order to significantly reduce wait times for surgeries in our country. The 10-Year Plan they put together established benchmarks in 5 clinical areas where wait times were supposed to decrease over the following decade.
In 2012, radiation therapy was the only area where Canadian provinces hit the target of 90% of procedures completed within a benchmark time period.
