Prescription Drugs |
- PharmaCare offers assistance with many types of prescription drugs, but does not provide out-of-province benefits. A deductible is required, based on family income. |
Dental Care |
- The government only covers medically required surgical procedures performed by a surgeon or dental surgeon in a hospital.

Vision Care |
- Individuals aged 16 to 64 receive full coverage for one examination every 24 months. |
Hospital Care |
- Basic hospital care accommodations are covered. |
Health Specialists |
- Those under 65 receive partial coverage for a variety of medically required health specialist care. |
Homecare and Nursing |
- Various fees apply to different services. Eligibility based on assessed needs. |
Ambulatory Services |
- In response to a 911 call there is a $50 flat fee-ground or air fee if transportation is no longer required or refused. An $80 fee is charged when an ambulance is requested and patient is brought to hospital or medical facility. |
Hearing Aids |
- There is no coverage for hearing aids. |
Medical Equipment and Supplies |
- Pharmacare provides coverage for insulin, needles, and syringes for diabetics. Coverage available for other medical supplies such as; ostomy supplies, designated permanent prosthetic appliances as well as children's orthotic devices. Children eligible, with type 1 diabetes receive coverage for insulin pumps. Coverage for insulin pump reservoirs for all age groups suffering from diabetes is also offered if eligible. |
