- Individuals on social assistance receive 100% for approved prescription drugs.
- Individuals over 65 pay first a portion of the cost of the prescription drug and dispensing fee per prescription.
- 100% coverage for prescription drugs used to treat AIDS, tuberculosis, rheumatic fever, cystic fibrosis, growth hormone deficiency, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and for some cancer drugs. |
Dental Care |
- Children aged 3 – 16 receive 100% coverage for preventive services. Annual registration fees apply as well as a 20% contribution on treatment services.
- 100% coverage is available for medically necessary surgical procedures if performed in a hospital.

Ambulatory Services |
- Individual pays $150 for land transfer within PEI only.
- There is no coverage for air transfe, there is a flat fee of $750 for individuals needing this service. |

Medical Equipment and Supplies |
- There is 100% coverage for laboratory use and x-rays.
- Programs such as the Cancer Financial Assistance Program offers limited coverage for prosthetics and other medical equipment and supplies. |
