Prescription Drugs

- Individuals with the Trillium Drug Program must pay a deductible based on their family's net income.
- Individuals receiving general welfare or family benefits will have to pay a $2.00 deductible per prescription.
- Individuals over 65 must pay the first $100 of prescription drug costs per year and up to $6.11 per prescription thereafter.

Dental Care

- There is full coverage for some surgical dental procedures performed in a hospital.

Vision Care


- Coverage is provided for one annual eye exam for residents under 20 and for seniors age 65 and up or for those receiving assistance under Ontario Works, the Ontario Disability Support Program, or the Family Benefits Program.

Hospital Care

- Coverage for basic ward accommodations is available.

Health Specialists

- There is a maximum coverage of $150 per year for chiropractor visits.
- There is a maximum coverage of $155 per year for osteopath visits.
- There is a maximum coverage of $135 per year for podiatrist visits.
- Full coverage is provided for physiotherapy if services are performed in an approved physiotherapy clinic, hospital, or physician's office.
- Full coverage is provided for speech therapy if services are performed in a hospital.

Homecare and Nursing

- Limited coverage is available for nursing home basic accommodations (usually around $47 a day.)
- Limited coverage is also available for semi-private and private nursing home accommodations.

Ambulatory Services

Coverage of land and air transport is available when medically necessary. The patient must pay a $45 deductible.

Hearing Aids

- Assistive Devices Program provides coverage pending approval of application.

Medical Equipment and Supplies

- The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) provides some coverage for insulin pumps and other supplies for Type 1 diabetics under the age of 18 upon acceptance of application. Full coverage through the ADP for those 19 and up is available for those who qualify. An annual grant, paid out quarterly, is also provided for approved individuals that covers other related supplies.
